Low to the ground is a very interesting place to live.
There is so much to see and do!
When you keep your eyes on the ground, you will be the first to spot that plump and perfectly slow escargot arriving just in time for your noon repast.
Fixing your eyes on the low horizon means if a “single and seeking” lady box turtle happens to cross your path, you won’t miss your chance to repopulate the planet with baby box turtles who have bright orange cheek patches.
And training your eyes on your near-earth surroundings means that somebody else’s rumbling tummy will never become your problem to solve.
So to speak.
But there is also something to be said for occasionally looking up.
Lifting your eyes to the heavens.
Taking in the vast expanse of a sky studded with stars.
Remembering that you fit – perfectly and precisely – into this brightly lit bigger picture.
And receiving confirmation of this when you meet your rescue mama’s grateful and love-filled eyes staring back into your own.
