Bruce is a surprisingly picky eater! This has caused his mommy many, many stressful days and nights, worrying that he isn’t eating enough or enough variety to stay healthy and strong.
It doesn’t help that, aside from the collection of water turtles we routinely rescued, cared for and released when I was a youngster, Malti is the only shelled being I’ve ever been responsible for feeding other than Bruce. And she is pretty much always game to eat.
But Bruce – if he doesn’t absolutely love what is on the menu, he’s perfectly happy to wait another day to see if the selection improves.
There is one trick I’ve found that sometimes helps. Bruce loves salmon. But he doesn’t like canned salmon. He likes the fresh, organic, sustainably-caught salmon his grandmother cooks for him.
So if I save some in a baggie and heat it up and add a bit to his plate, and then sprinkle salmon juices over the other things I want him to eat, sometimes he will take a nibble or two of each thing.
And of course he always swallows the salmon bits whole.

And remember…..
Bruce has Shannon well trained. Goody for him
He is a master at “training” – a real natural!
