It has been said the eyes are the windows to the soul.

When you are born with particularly large and attractive, expressive red eyes, you can use this to your advantage.

For example, it won’t take you long to notice how quickly your smitten large shell-less assistant hurries over when you gaze soulfully in her direction.

A box turtle gazes soulfully up at his smitten large shell-less rescue mama.

And if the eyes are windows to the soul, they may be able to serve equally effectively as windows to the…..stomach.

A box turtle uses his large and expressive eyes to let his mama know his stomach is grumbling already.

When your swimming hole needs to be refreshed, you can sit beside it and just let your whirling red eyes do all the talking for you.

A swift-on-the-uptake box turtle trains his whirling red eyes on his large shell-less habitat maintenance assistant to let her know the swimming hole needs attention, stat.

And if you find a new addition to your enclosure makes for particularly comfy seating, you can locate yourself right on top of it to let your rescue mama know to get more of that one.

With such a potently cute set of peepers, who even notices the brand new (totally squashed) aloe vera seat their owner is perched on top of?

  1. I love his shell. It looks like Bruce took a bunch a sea shells and attached them to himself making sure the shadings and designs were perfectly matched. They gracefully flow out of the main middle design and, of course, perfecly complement the handsome white throat and expressive red eyes.
