Reptiles, whether box turtles, tortoises or other species, are definitely a breed apart.

Even if you look a little (or a lot) different on the outside, on the inside you have so much in common.

Take cold blood, for example.

Where a good one-half of all the beings on earth are what one might politely call “all-weather,” you actually bother to set preferences for your seasons. If a season comes along that you don’t prefer, a nice long restful nap is just the thing until the weather improves.

No wonder you are so well-rested and long-lived!

But sometimes it can still feel like a warm-blooded world out there, and often a perilous one at that.

For this reason and so many others, it is always nice to spend some time with your homies.

A cold-blooded box turtle just hanging out with his homies, the Crocs.

You can just hang out, with no one asking awkward questions about why you insist on covering yourself all over with dirt and mud or burrowing down deep into your hay when you could be at the beach or on the ski slopes.
