One of the biggest things to get used to after being rescued is the nonstop attention.

Your rescue mama really wants you to feel at home, safe, cared for….so much so that she checks on you one or a hundred times a day (hour).

It is great to know you are loved, wanted, adored.

But all that adoration is really interfering with your box turtle beauty rest.

So you work out a clever system to let your rescue mama know when you are feeling snoozy and need to nap versus when you are hungry and need a snack.

By burrowing down into the top of your hay pile, your rescue mama can tell right away when you need to take a restful nap.

Then, when you are hungry, you can stick your adorable head up and out of your hay pile to let your mama know to bring snacks.
