Being rescued has its pros and its cons.

Among the pros – you will never again be in danger of stepping off a concrete curb into a busy street and ending up as a (SOB) turtle pancake.

And the cons? After taking up comfy residence in your new home, you may not immediately recognize your dinner the first time it arrives.

This, of course, is because you are used to roaming about, sniffing and grazing and sometimes hunting and just sampling a little of this, a little of that, until you find something you really like.

But then one day you wake up rescued and suddenly there is a large (enormous, really) shell-less being preparing your victuals. And she does things a lot differently. Like, a LOT differently.

A precious rescued box turtle can be forgiven for failing to recognize his breakfast at first when it arrives all neatly diced and chopped and placidly waiting for his leisurely consumption!
