In featherless culture, many young flock members go through a rite of passage where they gather in large groups and throw a small round object around.
During this ritual, it is customary for the more experienced participants to yell at the newbies, “Keep your eye on the ball!”
In the same way, one of the first lessons small feathered predators-in-training learn is where to look to keep freshly caught prey all to yourself…..while also keeping poachers away.
