When you are very hungry, it can be tempting indeed to just dig in.
Yet true gourmands are hungry for more than just a full belly.
They also crave beauty, grace, and the courtly refinements only the “Dance of the Gourmand” can offer.
The dance always begins with a courtly bow….And a proper formal introduction. For dancers whose tummies are grumbling audibly, official dance rules allows for a brief, polite retreat at this stage.Upon your return, it is time to select your first dance partner.A courtly bow in their direction indicates that you have chosen them. You will know they have chosen you back when they jump into your open beak. After saying (burp) goodbye to your first dance partner, you can now choose a second partner. Here again, a courtly bow and introductions announce your selection. If your new partner doesn’t quite make the leap, you can move to meet them halfway and help them into your open beak. The dance continues, until a final gracious bow (or at least as gracious as your full belly will allow) signals that your meal is over.
