An old culinary saying holds that “a watched pot never boils.”

Yet the exact opposite saying holds true for a nest.

In order to keep it from boiling (a state of affairs that is less than, um, conducive to rearing eggs) you must watch it constantly.

As well, the cuter the Nest Watch is, the less likely it is that the nest will ever be in any danger (on account of how all the predators are so stunned with cuteness all they can do is drool and slink away).

Watching, watching, watching.....
Watching, watching, watching…..
And watching and watching and watching....
And watching and watching and watching….
Break for CUTENESS! CUTENESS! CUTENESS! (to the faint sounds of drooling predators slinking away....)
Break for CUTENESS! CUTENESS! CUTENESS! (to the faint sounds of drooling predators slinking away….)
Very stern watching....
Very stern watching….
And watching....
And watching….
And watching (with a little bit of glaring thrown in for good measure)....
And watching (with a little bit of glaring thrown in for good measure)….
CUTENESS! CUTENESS! CUTENESS! (more slinking, more drooling....)
CUTENESS! CUTENESS! CUTENESS! (more slinking, more drooling….)
And watching....and watching....
And watching….and watching….
And watching....
And watching….
And just a bit of tidying (while watching)....
And just a little bit of tidying (while watching)….
And one final application of CUTENESS! CUTENESS! CUTENESS! (sounds of crashing while slinking and drooling....)
And one final application of CUTENESS! CUTENESS! CUTENESS! (to the sounds of stumbling and crashing while slinking and drooling….)

    1. Awww – thanks, Lore! The large featherless photography assistant appreciates the sweet praise (which she rarely receives from her sole demanding charge!) 😉
