As any manly manbird knows, there is only so much wooing you can do from inside the nest.

Not only does staying nest-side make it difficult for the ladybirds to see how fetching you really are, but you can’t do the best tricks from inside your nest.

To really (um) strut your stuff, you need to show the ladybirds you offer the best of all worlds – a fab pad, mad skills, and – of course – suave solo good looks.

This can best be accomplished through an “aerial nest twirling” demonstration.

Okay, Mom, it's almost time for the next "aerial nest twirling" show. Get the camera ready!
Okay, Mom, it’s almost time for the next “aerial nest twirling” show. Can you go get the prop? The prop, Mom, just like we talked about.

Now that I have the prop, I’ll just do a few last-minute touchups….
Okay ladybirds, here is the nest material. Now watch closely!
Okay ladybirds, the show is starting. Now watch closely!
First I will grip the nest material in my powerful talons to immobilize it.
First I will grip the prop in my powerful talons to immobilize it.
Now I will bite down hard on it in preparation for "twirling."
Now I will bite down hard on it in preparation for “twirling.”
Please hold your "ooohs" and "aaahs" until the end.

And now for my grand finale – the “free fall aerial nest twirl!”
I meant for the nesting material to twirl out of reach....it's just all part of the show, folks!
Hmmm. This particular prop is very light and aerodynamic indeed.
Now where did my large featherless props assistant go? It is very hard to do a great show with such inconsistent help.
Now where did my large featherless props assistant go?! Mom? The prop. It is time to retrieve the prop. Remember -“I drop it and you pick it up,” just like we drilled, Mom!
