Living in a mixed-species flock goes more smoothly when you have the willingness to “act like a local” when needed (even if you happen to think local behaviors are quite, well, unusual).
So let’s say it is New Year’s Eve – the last day of a year full of days.
For some reason, you notice your featherless flockmates get more excited about this day than some of the other days.
On this particular day, they seem especially partial to sitting around in groups and drinking liquid full of bubbles while cooking up short phrases they call “resolutions.”
The most important aspect of these “resolutions” seems to be that they do not apply on New Year’s Eve. They only start applying on New Year’s Day (the first day of a new year full of days).
When you have feathers, it is sometimes hard to comprehend the need for all this planning.
If you want to do something – for instance, if you have resolved to become a world-famous Breakfast Bowl Acrobat – why wait for later when you can do it right now?
You can even demonstrate this new way to achieve resolutions so the featherless beings know what they have been doing wrong.
