Big or small, short or tall, young or old, rich or poor, feathered or featherless, there is so much happiness to be found in this world.
And since Monday is the most stressful day of the week for many featherless beings (on account of something called “work”), Pearl figures it is also the perfect day for his weekly tutorial on finding happiness!
Here is this week’s very feathery entry:

Now you try it!
“Happiness is…… (fill in the blanks with one or many entries!)”
Post your entries in the comments section below to be entered into a drawing to win a FREE beak-o-graphed BOOK (1 entry per person; 1 book drawing per month while supplies last).
With love (& lots of feathers),
Shannon & Pearl
Happiness is having all your family (i.e. My husband and family members that are not of the human variety) safely under one roof, so you have assurance everyone is there and safe. <3
Happiness is also knowing that even when you can't socialize or have visitors, you've already married your best friend, and therefore you've got a 2-in-1 win: a husband who lives out the "in sickness and in health" part of your vows and who also knows how to make fun for both of you when fun is hard to find due to whatever circumstance.
Happiness is also casually realizing one day that somewhere along the way ("the way" being your life, and your life being one big out of your control mess, during which all you feel like you've done is ask others for help and have dealt with codependency and fear of being alone or being responsible or just "adulting" in general–that last one's still not my favorite, but at least I know it's something they can be done when necessary), you have transitioned from being a person who only has to ask others for advice and encouraging words and even tough love at times, to a person who still does the above, but who also finds herself echoing words of wisdom/advice/insight/tough love she's been given over the years–words and lessons and insights that were helpful to her–to others she knows who are enduring even similar trials. It's a very specifically special, new, weird, but very good type of happiness that seems to just come to be without you actively noticing it's so.
Lastly for today, happiness is making a "happiness is" list that has an even number of paragraphs/sections. 😉
Haha – I was waiting for a comment about symmetry! We definitely share that bit of happiness in common! Love reading your happiness list! <3
Happiness is when you ask your cockatiel if she wants melon for breakfast. She flies off her cage into the kitchen, lands on your head & tweets! 🙂
And how cute is THAT!! A definite recipe for happiness! <3
Happiness is…
*Waking up in the morning in good health, never being hungry and having a roof over my head.
*Being surrounded by wonderful family and friends and knowing they are here for me no matter what!
*Finding new and interesting friends on Facebook. I may never get to meet them in real life but that doesn’t make them any less of a true friend!
*Last but not least, having the companionship and love of an animal by your side! I could never see my life without a pet, especially one with feathers!
I so resonate with everything you share, Barbara (especially the feathers part!) <3
