“Claiming Items”
Sometimes your large featherless assistant may bring home a new item. When this occurs, it is important for you to claim it immediately. This is a great way to reinforce the household pecking order (since of course the “alpha” flock member always gets first dibs on new stuff).
Also, if you later decide you don’t really want it, you can then wrap your assistant even tighter around your little claw by oh-so-generously giving it back.
