This week’s question comes from a young feathered being.

Hi Pearl,

You are such an inspiration to me. I am a young feathered being who loves flavorful delicacies. I have a very sensitive palate and could be an asset to our flock chef, who, well, um, uh, she seems kinda new at all this.

The problem is, no one will let me anywhere near the dishes so I can taste test them before they are served. I’ve tried everything I can think of and nothing has worked. Help!

Dear Keen,

I understand what you are going through. Most featherless beings think their palates are quite keen – it is a species-wide issue.

So here is what to do. First, you want to practice shrieking at full volume. You have to be really, really loud to be heard in the kitchen and get the chef’s attention. Then once you have it, you need to turn on the “cuteness” ASAP. I mean, let it all out – the featheriness, the fluffiness, the big round eyes, the cute curved beak, the whole 9 yards.

The chef then won’t be able to resist noticing you and letting you out of your cage. Now all you need to do is very quickly hop onto (or into) the item you want to taste test. It should be easy from there.

Good luck!

With love (& feathers),

Pearl
