When you are naturally very fetching and feathery, self esteem and self love comes so easily.

For those rare moments of doubt, you can always count on your large featherless assistant, who dives for the small rectangular flashing device every time you do…well, anything. One snap and a flash later and – oh, that’s right! I am so fetching! So feathery! So loved!

But not everyone can grow their own feathers for an instant self-esteem lift.

For this, it can be helpful to find a mentor.

If that mentor happens to have soft grey and white feathers, even better.

It is easy to get hung up on things like “new years” – like we only get one chance, once a year, to start fresh. The truth is, every moment we get a new chance. Every time we draw in breath, we start again. There is no need to wait for a specific date to add more self love, self care, self kindness into our lives. Just like we can distract our large featherless assistant with “cuteness” at any moment, we can start to send more sweetness and kindness in our own direction now…and now….and now.

  1. I always liked the saying “In a world where you can be anything, choose to be kind”. Albert Schweitzer is my personal hero. Great man who practiced compassion and kindness. My favorite quote from him is: “Until he extends his circle of compassion to include all living things, man will not himself find peace.” To me that includes being kind to yourself.

    1. I love this saying too! I think Pearl and Albert Schweitzer would get along very well indeed!
