Being a famous and feathery actor means getting comfortable with playing many different types of roles in all different types of weather.

It could be sunny and hot, or rainy and cool, or overcast with lots of clouds, depending on what that particular part demands.

This, of course, requires lots of weather-related “props.” But what most fans don’t know is that weather-related props are even more difficult to work with than normal props.

For instance, sometimes the weather changes when you are still right in the middle of a drama, and you have to work with that and make the audience believe you expected the unexpected weather change to happen.

Love & Feathers is proud to present the world-famous and feathery actor Pearl Cutts in his latest one-avian play:

“The Downed Cloud”

With the topic of “global warming” on everybody’s mind, tickets to the star’s new weather-centric drama sell out even more quickly than usual.

Fans are also eager to get into the spirit of the play – literally – and they show up wearing raincoats and booties and carrying umbrellas.

This causes a bit of a crush at the entrance, as eager fans forget about their open umbrellas and extra gear and get tangled up with one another as they rush through the auditorium doors. (As a side benefit, some of the faithful yet less, um, forceful fans are then able to sneak past them and claim the best seats for once.)

I was called and I came. What seems to be the trouble here? You are a “prop,” correct?
Uh huh. And you are one of our new “weather related” props, I see. You are supposed to play a “cloud,” correct?
So by my calculations, you should be floating up in the air right about now.
Well, I don’t see any kind of mechanical issue. You seem to be full of air and quite translucent, just like a cloud is supposed to be.
We need you to go up in the air. The fans came to see a weather-related drama. You are the “weather.” No, you can’t be excused because you are tired. You can be tired later after the play is over.
Well, let’s see if we can get you un-tired, then….

Just as the famous and feathery star busts out with his trademarked display of “fierceness and ferociousness,” the strange and mysterious being known only as “Mom” arrives and collects the downed cloud.

She then reaches up and pulls on something dangling from the ceiling. Suddenly the theater is flooded with light! The star, adept at handling changing on-stage weather conditions, instantly adjusts to the new “sunny and hot” weather the newly arrived prop is emitting.

Problem solved. As the curtain closed, the grumpy star can be heard muttering something that sounds like “….downed cloud will never work in this town again….”

The. End.

  1. Do not expect shoddy work from any silly prop, that cannot be tolerated. Expect and receive perfection!
