My people are part Iroquois. Or at least we think we are part Iroquois. Until my aunt on my father’s side started doing genealogical research, we thought we were part Cherokee.
But then she figured out (somehow) that we are also related to Chief Crazy Horse. Who was from the Lakota (Sioux) tribe.
So my point is, our Cherokee-Iroquois-Lakota-Sioux ancestry is perhaps partly to blame for the hairstyle that is today known as the “mohawk.”

Although technically, the first known mohawk was worn on a 2,000 year old man charmingly nicknamed “Clonycavan Man.” He created his unique look (archeologists tell us) using a combination of plant oil and pine resin.
Parrots, of course, don’t have to do anything special to achieve their singular mohawk effect.
But when you add water, the look becomes much more interesting. For instance – check out this fresh new style, discovered by a modern non-researcher (aka Pearl’s Mommy) after his most recent shower.
