There’s Always a Longer Bird

Just like I tend to assume everyone is my age, Pearl tends to assume everyone is an avian.

Some of us just wear our feathers on the inside.

Which is why, perhaps, I noticed her studying one of my mom’s “birds” with such fascination.

It started like this:

A new and interesting perch....no big deal.

And then things started to get weird:

Pearl catches sight of the little white tuft on the back of the ceramic hotdog's Santa cap.

Perhaps she is thinking that this odd long bird is one of these:

Same odd white feathery tuft...but different body.

Finally she has to move in for a closer look:

Nope. This is definitely not a duck.
