Day 124: Looking for Ladybirds

Because nesting season is so competitive, it is wise to scope out the competition early.

Plus, it never hurts to do a little “pursuing” of your own (even if you don’t need to).

The best place to do all this is to go where the competitors and the ladybirds are – in the “great outdoors.”

Ooooh! I think I see a competitor! He is grey and white like me. But his song is crazy - I can't imagine a ladybird going for all that.
Ooooh! I think I see a competitor! He is grey and white too! But his song is crazy complicated – makes him sound desperate. Plus, his beak isn’t curved – ladybirds prefer curved beaks.
You've got to play it more cool to catch a ladybird's eye.
I’ll just play it cool and keep my song simple – soon the ladybirds will all be flocking.
