Daily life in an interspecies flock takes on an especially interesting dimension when most of your flock are introverts.
It can sometimes feel like you spend most of your time competing to see how far away from each other you can get.
But just because you like your alone-time (whether “in shell” or “out of shell”) doesn’t mean you don’t need some together-time too.
There is something to be said for sharing space, even when your precious redfooted belly is completely full and you are already nice and warm.
Because – it is simply nice to know you are loved.
That someone will always be there to scratch your shell right where it itches. That your flock mates have your back – or at least will come running if you try to climb (something, anything) and end up on your back yet again.
It may not be mainstream news – at least not yet – but turtle cuddles are a thing.
A real, necessary, wonderful and much-appreciated thing.
