When you have feathers, you are already so cute you rarely need any additional skills to get what you want when you want it.

But it can still be a good idea to keep your survival skills sharp – in particular, skills like “pilfering” can come in handy from time to time.

In fact, the best pilferers exhibit such poise that their targets typically don’t even realize anything has been taken.

For instance – just as an example – let’s say that the large featherless being has fixed herself (aka you) a tasty lunch of Cheerios with fresh blueberries drenched in almond milk.

You just happen to know that Cheerios are especially delectable when they are the merest bit soaked in almond milk.

So this is a perfect moment to practicing “pilfering with poise.”

Well well well. This looks tasty!

Mom is right there, but she's so taken with my cuteness she doesn't even notice I'm pilfering a Cheerio.
Mom is right there, but she’s so taken with my cuteness she doesn’t even notice I’m pilfering a Cheerio under her very nose.
Let's make it two Cheerios.
Since I’m practicing my skills, let’s make it two Cheerios.
I am so poised I'll bet Mom can't even see the extra Cheerio I have hidden away under my foot!
Now three Cheerios. I am so poised I’ll bet Mom can’t even see the extra Cheerio I have hidden away under my foot!

  1. Where do I gear a copy of Pearls book? I enjoy your daily posts so much. My daughter is a teacher and a book on Pearl would be a delight to children everywhere.
