Cockatiels originally hail from the land down under (aka Australia).
When the Australians discovered gold in the early 1900’s, they also discovered their country’s real jackpot – immense flocks of wild cockatiels.
Shortly after that, the Europeans showed up to get their own glimpse of these great wild flocks and were so smitten with their beauty they named them Nymphicus after the lovely nymphs of ancient mythology.

Today, it is common practice for modern tiels to select one or more large featherless assistants to manage their fan clubs, take publicity requests and handle the always-lurking paparazzi.
Since most featherless beings are known to be docile, eager to serve and slavishly devoted to feathers, this arrangement typically works out well for both parties.
In this post, Wet Bird Couture pays homage to the cockatiel with a special one-of-a-kind new look called “Birds Gone Wild.”

With love (& lots of feathers),
