Day 277: Advanced Stalking Skills

When you have feathers but you belong to a flock of beings that don’t have any feathers, you have to adapt.

For instance, as a feathery being, you prefer to eat your meals in daylight.

However, many featherless beings seem to like to save the last meal of the day for after the sun goes down.

This, of course, just makes the prey that much harder to stalk….which means you have to up your game to get your fair share.

It is totally dark out so it is hard to tell, but I think I have just come across some large, juicy prey.

It seems big enough to share, Mom, but you'd better let me bring it down. I have special training for this.

First I will circle the prey, making as much noise and mess as possible to immobilize it with fear.

Now just a nibble - must make sure it is worth the effort.
Now I’ll take a tiny nibble – just to make sure it is worth the effort.
Wow - it didn't even twitch. I think it's already immobilized!

Did you see me, Grandma? Did you? I brought down that large prey all by myself!

  1. I think Pearl did a good job! Grandma was listening very intently to his exploits.

    1. Awww – thanks, Jeanne! Pearl’s Grandma was very proud of him (she made the dish just for him, of course!) 🙂
