It can be quite the adjustment to go from a mostly solitary life to living in the heart of an interspecies flock.
Needless to say, making the transition can take some time.
At first, you may be tempted to just hide, hide, hide.
After all, it has (mostly) worked well for you so far….at least until you went in search of a new and improved hiding place and almost became a road pancake for your troubles.
But still, hiding has become such a habit that sometimes it feels almost more than even your particularly potent brand of brave can tackle to learn a new way.
Plus, it certainly doesn’t help that nearly every being in your new life towers head and shoulders above you…literally.
It is hard to connect when mostly you can’t even see your new flock mates!
However, you persevere. You keep trying. You stay out of your shell, willing and at times even nearly eager for interaction and the family experience.
Then one day – at long last – a being who is just your shape and size, and even your color to boot, finally joins your flock.
With that foot up you needed, at long last you realize coming out of your shell was totally worth the work.
