No matter how brightly colored and visible you might be as a manly male box turtle on the prowl, you can’t count on crossing paths with an eligible lady box turtle all that often.

So when you do, you really want to be ready to put your best foot forward!

You already know you look good – heck, great – from your bright orange cheek patches to your three sharp claws on each back leg, there is no doubt your eggs will be very, very cute.

But there is also personality. It isn’t enough to just be very cute. You have to be very charming, too.

Here, the best way to charm the dots right off the lady box turtle of your dreams is to make eye contact.

Direct eye contact will give her a chance to witness your whirling red eyes up close and see how marvelous and masculine you are.
