Hailing from the most ancient and enduring of species can give you a perspective younger life forms clearly lack.

From your unique vantage point, you can see how the temporary ebbs and flows of life can sometimes send hot (oh so hot) molten lava spewing out, only to turn around and cover the whole world in cold (oh so cold) sheets of ice.

One day the big news is all about slavering, starving tigers with big long saber-sharp teeth.

The next day all anyone can think about and talk about it some new breed of tiny particle that insists on wearing its own microscopic crown everywhere it goes.

Through it all, you quietly persist, remembering that slow and steady has been working well for you all these millennia and there is no sense in changing it up now.
