Some folks think feeding your parrot breakfast means scooping a few tablespoons of birdseed out of a bag and into a bowl.

Ha.

In our household, “parrot breakfast” is a full and complete part of every day (full and complete in an entirely separate way from “Mom’s breakfast,” which is increasingly relegated to whatever brief time may be left after parrot breakfast concludes).

Perhaps this morning ritual might be a bit easier if the parrot in question were willing to eat at least some of the carefully pre-selected nutritionally sound organic breakfast items out of his bowl.

But when a certain feathery someone refuses to go near it if it is not offered on the parrot equivalent of fine china (aka held at beak level between two parrontal fingers), there is no getting around it.

“Parrot breakfast” is here to stay.

The household breakfasting parrot, refusing to touch the banana, hard boiled egg, papaya, arugula, and swiss chard - until Mom holds it for him.

  1. I know! Mine insist that I stand there and hold it for them (obviously it tastes better this way)…its a bad habit my feathered beings have roped me into. Geez…
