Day 281: The Man Cave (Nest)

In the most competitive nesting seasons, even having two separate luxury casas, a large featherless assistant, a personal chef, and international fame and adulation (on account of prettiness, of course) may not cut it.

In these seasons, you can make a clear case for breaking out the big guns – something only the champions of nesting can successfully pull off.

By acting like you no longer care one bit whether you attract ladybirds, the ladybirds will not be able to resist you.

It will be like putting catnip out for cats, or waffles out for….well…..you.

Here, your strategy changes 180 degrees as you turn your “ladybird lure” into a “man cave (nest)” – the perfect posh hangout for one supremely successful, suave, solo bachelor bird.

This is such a posh "second nest" - and just the right size for one occupant.
This is such a posh “man cave (nest)” – and just the right size and shape for a solo suave occupant.
I don't even know what I was thinking trying to squeeze a ladybird in here with me.
I don’t even know what I was thinking trying to squeeze a ladybird and all her lady things in here with me.
Would have totally destroyed the masculine "vibe" and decor in here to have fluffy, feathery ladybird stuff scattered all around.

In fact, it would have totally destroyed the masculine “vibe” and decor in here to have all that fluffy, feathery ladybird stuff scattered all around.
Now I can stretch out and fully enjoy my "man cave/nest" in peace.

Yes, yes, yes - I think I will put my "man cave ladder" over in this corner.
Yes, yes, yes – I think I will put my “manly manbird ladder” over in this corner.
And my mirror (for admiring suave solo male bird good looks) over in this corner.
And my shiny mirror (for admiring suave solo good looks) over in this corner.
Mom? I'm hungry - can you fix me "waffles for one?"
Mom? I’m getting hungry now. Can you fix me that manliest of manbird dishes – “waffles for one?”

  1. Oh Pearl you are definitely a manly man! Don’t wish for a ladybird because you know the old saying be careful what you wish for. Since Mom brought Chloe home, I am constantly trying to escape our nest. In fact , I was able to climb out of my bird feeder door and now mom is muttering about having to have a combination lock on the door to keep me in but a man needs his alone time!! Well, maybe I can make her feel bad and make me waffles”. signed Charlie

    1. Haha – Jeanne, that is a GREAT point! Poor Charlie – sounds like he is in desperate need of a man cave (nest) too!! Waffles would definitely help too. 🙂

      1. Yes, I am going to show him Pearl’s and see if that would make him happy. I think Pearl has the hang of the man cave.
