Day 197: That Tortoise Tongue

As a card-carrying member of the ancient order of Chelonia (Testudines), you might as well be planetary royalty.

Depending on who you ask (and how accurate their research may be), your shelled kind, the “tortoise,”  may even predate the venerated dinosaurs!

And yet your large shell-less assistant can’t seem to keep herself from “oohing” and “aahing” over your oh-so-normal traits like, say, having a cute pink tongue.

You don’t deny it – tortoise tongues will always be cuter than the tongues of other species (this also goes for “eyes,” “nose,” “feet,” “tail” and other tortugan attributes).

But still – having the paparazzi shove that small rectangular flashing device in your face every time you open up your (irresistibly cute) tortoise mouth to consume a snack can get, well, old…so say the least.

A very cute (and oh so old and ancient) shelled being displays the very tip of her precious pink tongue – and here come the paparazzi yet again.

  1. Good Morning. You manage to lift my spirits every day with these adorable blogs. The first sentence of this one had me laugh out loud. Thanks to your large shell-less assistant, you, Pearl, and Bruce for continuing to make the start of my days sunnier.
