It doesn’t take too long living with the large shell-less beings before you realize you actually have a few things in common!
This is a very good thing.
After all, without sharing a common spoken language, or even a common species, finding other common interests can really help break the (ahem) cold-blooded ice.
Take “comfort zones,” for example.
They have them. You have them.
And since comfort is something most shell-less beings are also keen to learn more about, and shelled beings are acknowledged experts on the topic, the nonverbal conversation tends to flow smoothly in this particular area.
For instance, let’s say some comfort is good.
But if you could have even more comfort, would you want it?
(Of course.)
So you can show your large shell-less assistant how to get more by stretching your comfort zone (not to be confused with stretching outside your comfort zone….talk about a serious waste of perfectly good comfort!)
Luckily it is easy to get even more comfort.
First, you just sit down and get very comfortable. Next, you stretch out as much of you as far as you can to increase your comfort zone.
Bigger comfort zone = more comfort. Voila!

My Red Ear Slider does the same thing with his back legs when he sleeps.
How absolutely adorable! We are so lucky to have family members with shells! ❤️🐢
